Step one
Bae Boats sails from two marinas on opposite sides of the Bay. Both are calm, protected waterways where first-time boaters feel at home. Pick the one that suits your day.
Cruise beneath the Fruitvale Bridge, past Coast Guard Island and the colourful houseboats, with the San Francisco skyline and Jack London Square across the water. Our largest fleet and the widest choice of boats.
Pass the famous Sausalito floating homes and the Belvedere Island shoreline, with the San Francisco skyline across the Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge on the horizon. Seabirds, seals and occasional dolphins.
Step two
Four 100% electric Duffy boats across the two marinas. Every one is self-captained, seats your group privately, and tops out at six miles per hour — the right speed for these protected waterways.
Enclosed cabin with full canopy and windscreens, plus an open rear deck. Our most-booked Alameda boat.
The most interior space in the fleet, fully enclosed with wraparound windows. Warmest boat on cool days.
Open-air, pink inside and out, and the most photographed boat on the estuary. Best on warm, still days.
Our newest boat at Clipper Yacht Harbor. Floating homes, Belvedere Island and the city skyline.
Live availability across every Bae Boats boat and both marinas. Choose your date, rental length and departure point, then confirm your booking.
Cancellation & weather policy. Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before departure and your payment moves to a new date or converts to gift-card credit. Cancellations inside 24 hours and no-shows are charged in full. If Bae Boats cancels because of weather or an unforeseen issue, you choose a full refund or a credit.
Step three
Book the boat on its own, or add the extras that make the day easier — a bundled dog package, five cruises for the price of four, or a gift card for someone else.
Buy five two-hour Alameda rentals for the price of four and book them on any dates that suit you across the year.
Take the dog. The pet fee, a Fi Series 3+ smart collar with a six-month subscription and onboard extras are all included.
Richardson Bay with your dog aboard our newest boat, plus the Fi collar, a Fi tennis ball and a Fi tote bag.
Made for an occasion
A private electric boat is the simplest way to gather people somewhere that feels like an occasion. Tell us what you are marking and we will have the boat ready.
01
Birthdays, anniversaries, proposals and bachelorette afternoons. Bring your own cake and drinks, or add a charcuterie box from Mosley's Café and a balloon delivery from our Alameda partner Lifted Balloons.
02
Golden-hour cruises for two on the estuary or Richardson Bay. Take the Suncruiser for four hours, head out as the light softens, and stop the boat to eat on the water while the city lights come up.
03
Team outings, client hosting and leadership offsites for groups of up to 40 across multiple boats. No licence needed, so nobody is left on the dock, and no itinerary to keep to.
Where you can go
Every Bae Boats rental includes a safety briefing and a map of the approved cruising area, so you always know where you may take the boat and where the quietest water is.
Alameda. From Grand Marina: the Oakland Estuary, the Fruitvale Bridge, Coast Guard Island, the houseboat rows, Jack London Square and skyline views.
Sausalito. From Clipper Yacht Harbor: Richardson Bay, the Sausalito floating homes, the Belvedere Island shoreline and Golden Gate Bridge views.
How it works
Bae Boats is self-captained, which means there is no skipper to schedule around and no group of strangers on your boat. You book it, you drive it, and the water is yours for the rental.
Nobody needs prior boating experience. Our dock team briefs every driver before departure, walks you through the controls, and hands you a map of the approved cruising area. Most guests are away from the dock within fifteen minutes of arriving.
As seen in
Every boat in the fleet is a Duffy electric cruiser. No fuel, no fumes, no engine noise — you hear the water and the birds instead of a motor.
Bae Boats opened at Grand Marina in Alameda in 2021 and added Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito in 2024. The family still runs the docks.

Our story
Bae Boats began during the pandemic, with three children, a lot of time outdoors, and the discovery that an electric Duffy boat is the calmest way to be on the water. The first boat was named Santorini, after the island where the founders became engaged twenty years earlier. The second was named Cinque Terre.
We opened at Grand Marina in Alameda in 2021. In 2024 we added Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito so that guests on the north side of the Bay could reach Richardson Bay without crossing the bridge. Every boat in the fleet is still chosen, cleaned and briefed by the family.
Food and drink
Every Bae Boats boat has a picnic table and Bluetooth speakers. Bringing your own food and drinks is encouraged — and both marinas sit next to a kitchen that will pack a box for the boat.
Guides
Hidden gems beyond the tourist traps — from electric boat rentals on the estuary to the USS Hornet, the Exploratorium and the Alcatraz night tour.
A perfect day around Grand Marina by land and water — morning coffee at Mosley's, an estuary cruise, coastal shopping and a soak to finish.
