How it works

From booking to casting off in four steps

Bae Boats is self-captained, which means there is no skipper to schedule around and no group of strangers on your boat. You book it, you drive it, and the water is yours for the rental.

Nobody needs prior boating experience. Our dock team briefs every driver before departure, walks you through the controls, and hands you a map of the approved cruising area. Most guests are away from the dock within fifteen minutes of arriving.

Family owned and operated

Bae Boats opened at Grand Marina in Alameda in 2021 and added Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito in 2024. The family still runs the docks.

Our story

Built by a family who wanted the Bay at six miles per hour

Bae Boats began during the pandemic, with three children, a lot of time outdoors, and the discovery that an electric Duffy boat is the calmest way to be on the water. The first boat was named Santorini, after the island where the founders became engaged twenty years earlier. The second was named Cinque Terre.

We opened at Grand Marina in Alameda in 2021. In 2024 we added Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito so that guests on the north side of the Bay could reach Richardson Bay without crossing the bridge. Every boat in the fleet is still chosen, cleaned and briefed by the family.

Food and drink

Bring your own, or let the neighbours pack it

Every Bae Boats boat has a picnic table and Bluetooth speakers. Bringing your own food and drinks is encouraged — and both marinas sit next to a kitchen that will pack a box for the boat.

  • Mosley's Café, Alameda — our neighbour at Grand Marina. Pre-order a curated charcuterie box and it is delivered to your boat before you depart.
  • FISH, Sausalito — a short walk from Clipper Yacht Harbor, with a coastal picnic menu built for a day on Richardson Bay.
  • Molly Stones Market, Sausalito — directly beside the marina for last-minute supplies and drinks.
