The experience
The most interior space in the fleet
The Duffy Old Bay is the classic Duffy layout and, at Bae Boats, the boat with the largest enclosed cabin. Wraparound windows run the length of the boat, a full enclosure system seals it against wind and spray, and built-in seating wraps around a central table. If your group wants to sit together around food and talk for three hours, this is the boat that does it best.
Because the cabin is fully enclosed, the Old Bay is the model we recommend for cooler mornings, overcast afternoons and winter cruising — you stay warm and dry while still watching the estuary slide past. On a clear day, open the windows and the boat feels almost as open as the Suncruiser.
It is self-captained, 100% electric and cruises at a top speed of six miles per hour. No California Boater Card and no licence are required; the driver must be 21 or older with a valid driver's licence, and every rental starts with a safety briefing at the dock.

Yes. The Duffy Old Bay has a full window enclosure system running around the cabin, which is why we recommend it for cool, windy or damp days on the Oakland Estuary. You can open the windows when the weather allows.

The Old Bay is 100% electric and cruises at a top speed of 6 mph. That is the right speed for the no-wake Oakland Estuary — you will reach the Fruitvale Bridge, Coast Guard Island and the houseboat rows comfortably within a two-hour rental.
