Our commitment
We continually work to improve the experience of this website for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards. This site aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, with the mobile-usability enhancements introduced in WCAG 2.2 where practical.
What we have done
- Structured every page with a single H1 and a logical heading hierarchy, and used semantic landmarks for navigation, main content and footer.
- Provided a "Skip to main content" link as the first focusable element on every page.
- Ensured all interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator that is never removed.
- Checked text and background colour combinations against the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and interface components.
- Added descriptive alternative text to content images, and marked decorative graphics as hidden from assistive technology.
- Associated a visible label with every form field, and connected error messages to the relevant field using ARIA so they are announced by screen readers.
- Written the mobile navigation so that the booking action remains reachable without opening the menu, and sized touch targets to a minimum of 44 by 44 pixels.
- Respected the operating system "reduce motion" setting by disabling scroll animations and transitions for visitors who prefer reduced motion.
Known limitations
Some parts of this website are provided by third parties and are outside our direct control. We review them periodically and will work around any limitation we can:
- Booking widget. Live availability and checkout are provided by Peek Pro. If any part of the booking flow is difficult to use with assistive technology, call (510) 457-1765 and we will complete the booking for you over the phone.
- Embedded maps. Google Maps embeds on our contact and location pages may not be fully keyboard navigable. Full street addresses and written directions are provided alongside every map.
- Downloadable maps. The cruising-area maps are provided as images. If you need the information in another format, contact us and we will provide it.
Accessibility on board
Please contact us before booking so we can advise honestly on which boat and marina will work best. Boarding involves stepping down onto the boat from the dock; staff are on hand to assist. The Duffy Old Bay has the most interior space and the easiest seating layout, and Clipper Yacht Harbor in Sausalito has level access from the parking area to the dock. There are public restrooms at both marinas, but none on board the boats.
