1. Services

Bae Boats provides self-captained electric boat rentals from Grand Marina, 2099 Grand St, Alameda, CA 94501 and Clipper Yacht Harbor, 310 Harbor Dr, Sausalito, CA 94965. Rentals are supplied for private, recreational use and may not be resold or used for commercial passenger carriage.

2. Booking and payment

  • Rentals are paid in full at the time of booking, online or by telephone.
  • A refundable security hold of $500 is placed on your payment card 24 hours before your reservation and released once the boat is returned without damage. Depending on your bank, releasing a hold can take up to 48 hours.
  • Pricing varies by boat model and rental length. The rate confirmed at checkout for your date is the rate that applies.
  • You must be at least 21 years old to book and to drive a Bae Boats boat.

3. Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds

  • Cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours before your reservation and your payment moves to a new date or converts to gift-card credit.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure, and no-shows, are charged in full.
  • If Bae Boats cancels your rental because of weather or an unforeseen issue, you may choose a full refund or a credit toward a future booking.
  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method.

4. Weather and conditions

Bae Boats operates in most weather conditions. We will cancel a rental if we judge the conditions unsafe for your group or the vessel, and will contact you as early as possible on the day. Where a rental is cancelled by Bae Boats, the options in section 3 apply.

5. Driver requirements, safety and conduct

  • The driver must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver's licence. No boating licence and no California Boater Card are required.
  • Every driver must complete the safety briefing provided at the dock before departure.
  • Children 13 and under must wear a life jacket at all times on board. Life jackets are provided for adults and children.
  • All guests must sign a liability and damage waiver before departure.
  • Guests must remain within the approved cruising area shown on the map provided at check-in, comply with all California boating regulations and the instructions of Bae Boats staff, and may not operate the vessel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • The maximum number of passengers is 10 on the Duffy Suncruiser and Duffy Old Bay, and 8 on the pink Fantail.
  • Well-behaved dogs under 45 lbs are permitted for a $45 pet fee, or as included in a Pup Package. Service animals are always permitted.

6. Damage and liability

You are responsible for the vessel and its equipment for the duration of your rental, and for any loss or damage caused by you or your guests beyond normal wear. Damage may be charged against the security hold or invoiced separately. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bae Boats' liability arising out of or in connection with a rental is limited to the amount paid for that rental. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

7. Gift cards

  • Bae Boats gift cards are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.
  • Gift cards can be redeemed against any rental in Alameda or Sausalito.
  • Gift cards are not redeemable for cash and are not refundable, except where required by law.
  • Standard cancellation terms in section 3 apply once a booking has been made using a gift card.

8. Photographs and media

Bae Boats staff may take photographs or video during rentals for use on our website and social channels. If you would prefer not to appear, tell a member of staff at check-in and we will not publish images of your group. Pup Package guests may opt in to a photo feature on @baeboats.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any dispute arising from them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Alameda County, California.
