The experience
Richardson Bay is the most scenic hour on the Bay
The Sausalito Suncruiser launched in 2024 and is the newest boat in the Bae Boats fleet. From Clipper Yacht Harbor you head straight out into Richardson Bay, a sheltered and remarkably wildlife-rich stretch of water between Sausalito and Belvedere Island.
Within minutes of the dock you pass the famous Sausalito floating homes and the waterfront architecture of Belvedere. Seabirds work the shallows, stingrays and harbour seals cruise the eelgrass beds beneath you, and dolphins are spotted often enough that regulars keep a camera ready. Turn the bow south and you get the San Francisco skyline across the Bay; look west and the Golden Gate Bridge sits on the horizon.
The boat itself is the enclosed-cabin, open-deck Suncruiser layout, carrying up to 10 guests. It is self-captained, so no California Boater Card and no licence are required — the driver must be 21 or older with a valid driver's licence. One-hour rentals make an easy introduction; three and four hours let you explore the Bay properly and stop for a picnic on the water.

No. No licence and no California Boater Card are required. The driver must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver's licence, and every rental begins with a safety briefing and a map of the approved cruising area.

Yes — bringing your own is encouraged and there is a picnic table on board. Molly Stones Market is next door to the marina for last-minute supplies, and FISH restaurant a short walk away offers a curated boat picnic you can pre-order. We also have the FISH picnic menu available to download.
Bae Boats operates daily from both locations, and live availability for each boat and date is shown when you book. Sausalito weekends fill first, so book ahead for Saturday and Sunday. If a date you want is not showing, check our Alameda boats — the two locations are about 40 minutes apart.
